Talking points: Welfare

The problem

Those on both sides of the aisle express dreams of reforming our current welfare system, but nothing ever happens; nothing will happen. The welfare system is far beyond repair and needs to be eliminated.

The concept of welfare is a fair one, that is, those who need help should have it provided to them. However, welfare has become more of a life style than an encouraging kick in the butt. Welfare benefits have become so great that it provides the recipient absolutely no incentive to find work. In fact, welfare benefits surpass the benefits provided by some full time jobs.

All Americans who earn a salary and pay taxes should demand control over where their tax money is spent. Welfare-like benefits should come from charities and churches of our great nation. Tax break incentives from the government may encourage charities and churches to provide more help to more people. Those who support welfare are more than welcome to donate as much as they like to those institutions involved.

This nation's government should protect us from foreign threats and ensure our national security. They should not be in any position to redistribute our country's wealth.

The solution

  • Eliminate welfare.
  • Let America's churches and charities provide the help. Government tax break incentives may encourage the process.
